Mares
We are a small operation with six very well bred broodmares each with their own qualities. The team comprises four thoroughbred mares and our new additions, an irish sport horse mare and a warmblood mare.
Temperament is a crucial factor, along with conformation and breeding when we select our mares. They also have to produce quality offspring to earn and keep their place in our team.
Banrion
Kilmanagh Banrion, b 1985 Purebred Irish Draught, imported from Ireland.
By King of Diamonds out of Kilmanagh Colleen.
Banrion is a delightful mare who is a pleasure to handle. An older mare that has
also foundered in the past, we are hopeful that we will get her in foal this spring.

Irish Mist
Bay Irish Sport Horse mare born 1993 by Kingsway Diamond (RID) out of Final Crop (TB) (by Head Hunter TB).
Jill is an outstanding mare standing 16hh with excellent conformation, movement, breeding and temperament. Jill has had an impressive inhand show record including championships at the Nelson and Canterbury Horse and Pony Breeders Shows. Jill is a proven broodmare, leaving a stunning ¼ irish foal in 2002 by a TB stallion. We have been after an irish sport horse mare for some time to give us the choice of breeding up to ¾ irish draught using RID stallions, or producing ¼ irish sport horses using stallions of other breeds. We are absolutely delighted with Jill and are looking forward to breeding from her.

Noumea
Bay TB mare born 1988 by So Vain (TB) out of C'Mon Sal (TB) (by Trelay TB).
Noumea is our foundation mare and the dam of C. Coaltown and C. Coalstorm. Noumea carries excellent jumping bloodlines through her dam-line from Mellay, who is the sire of Trelay. Only a small mare, Noumea has a wonderful temperament and very good movement, both of which she passes on to her foals. She is leaving very big foals despite her size. Noumea is currently in foal to Coalman's Touch (RID) again and is due at the end of October.

Princess Dell
Grey TB mare born 1987 by King Delamere (TB) out of Alteryn (TB) (by Patron Saint).
Dell is a lovely type of mare with classical looks, movement and an excellent temperament. She is very well bred being by King Delamere who is out of a Battle-Wagon mare, an excellent source of jumping blood. We are eagerly awaiting our first foal from Dell, by Coalman's Touch (RID), due at the end of October.

GingerstarChestnut TB mare born 1992 by Domingly (TB) out of Zamastar (by Zamazaan).
Ginge is a huge TB mare, standing close to 17hh. She is by Domingly, who has left some very good jumpers. Ginge was a high-priced yearling who unfortunately never raced due to an injury. A quiet mare, she has done a little pleasure riding, jumping etc before coming here as a broodmare. Ginge has excellent bone, conformation and temperament. We are planning to breed our first foal from Ginge in the spring. We will most probably send Ginge to the Irish Draught stallion Coalman's Touch.

Rothery London (Coalman's Touch x Wynyard Irish Fleur by Laughtons Legend)
Sold as a broodmare due to an injury she had to her mouth, our plans are most probably to breed from her as a 3 year old next season possibly using Classic Vision semen to produce a 7/8 Irish draught. We also plan to do some inhand showing with her after Christmas. And as she is so lovely we are planning to break her in and see how she goes as she is just too good to just be a broodmare!

CeeCee - Reference mare
Bay mare born 1988 by Genius (Hanoverian imp) out of a TB mare (breeding unknown)
CeeCee is a big (16.3hh) upstanding correct mare. She is by the Hanoverian sire Genius who left a wealth of talented horses in all disciplines. Some examples of these are Gabana, a NZ Dressage Horse of the Year winner, Godfather and Guiness (show jumpers), and Glenbrook and Ginevra (horse trials).
CeeCee cames to our broodmare paddock from a competitive life at the age of 14 years. She had showjumped to 1.20m, winning the West Coast Aggregate Points Show Jumping Circuit Championship with her previous owner, Rachel King, in 2000. She had also hunted and evented.
Sadly we lost Cee Cee after foaling in November. She left us a filly, by Corlando.

Yrovi - Reference Mare
Bay TB mare born 1988 by Imperial Seal (TB) out of Minn Ruler (by Sharivari).
Yrovi is big upstanding TB mare who was a winner over 2000m on the racetrack and carries excellent jumping bloodlines from her sire Imperial Seal. Purchased from Goldengrove Stud, she produced sport horse foals before coming to us. Our first foal from her is the stunning Irish sport horse colt, Coleraine Redemption by Coalman's Touch (RID), born in 2002 and recently exported to Australia. Yrovi will most likely return to Coalman's Touch (RID) in the spring.
